I ordered online from River Lights, they were the only ones that had the new release I was looking for listed for some reason. I let them know that I had a birthday deadline in the hopes my book would arrive in time to be a gift (I had about three weeks between the release date and the birthday). They not only got me my order on time, but wrapped it super cutely for me! I was totally blown away, I wasn't thinking about wrapping at all, I was just hoping the order would get sent out quick enough. The books I got were well packaged and in great shape. If I'm ever in Iowa, I'll be sure to stop by! Until then I'll keep supporting my local booksellers from afar. Looking forward to my next order!

What a delight to enter this space. My son and I spent 30 minutes there last night looking through books, chatting with the employees, and debating what our next reads would be. We also loved buying gift cards for our friends and family for Christmas!

A lovely little local bookstore. Staff was very friendly and had good recommendations. The chalk outline in the floor underneath the mystery section was a fun touch.

This is what every other bookstore wishes it could be. The atmosphere, the displays, the staff, the selection, (the smell!), even the creaky floors make this the perfect little bookstore that usually only exists in movies.

RLB is an excellent independent bookstore that I have frequented since it opened (in their former location). Service is always stellar, and on offer is a wide array of books, cards, puzzles, and so much more. This is one of my happy places. Once again, I have purchased enough merchandise to earn another "reward" next time I visit, but I don't need that as an incentive to return the store. Just being there is enough of a reward for me!

I stopped by on Independent Bookstore Day. They were really celebrating, with cupcakes and popcorn. They ladies were wonderfully friendly. They have a excellent selection of book, gifts, and art supllies. They even had water and snacks for my pug.

River Lights is my favorite place to buy books. The staff is friendly and helpful and they’ve got a great selection. Whatever they don’t have, they’re always happy to order it for me!

This independent bookstore is everything a community space should be: welcoming, warm, inclusive. I'm always greeted with kindness when I arrive. It's clear that the people who work here care about books and people. The selection is fantastic - whether you're looking for something specific or just want to wander, there's always something that catches your eye. More than just a bookstore, it feels like a safe space where everyone is welcome. You can feel the sense of community that has grown here. Support this store if you can - it's a good one.

I checked out River Lights Bookstore for the first time today, and I was very impressed. You won't have an experience like this at a big-name store. The staff actually cares about your preferences and gives great recommendations. They also do community focused events, like a regular book club. My favorite section was the Banned Books, I had to buy three classics that shaped my childhood but now banned in our state's schools.
